Dr. Xiaonan Zhao serves as Associate Director at Baylor Genetics. In addition to her role at Baylor Genetics, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM).

Dr. Zhao received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at Nankai University in China and her PhD in molecular and cell biology at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. After finishing her postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Howard Hang at The Rockefeller University in 2015, she joined the Division of Genomic Diagnostics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as the genomics section lead scientist. Her work at CHOP mainly focused on the clinical application of next generation sequencing technologies for integrated cancer genomic diagnosis.  

Dr. Zhao moved to Houston in June 2020 and completed the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Laboratory Genetics & Genomics fellowship at BCM. Currently, she is board eligible and is mainly focusing on hereditary cancer testing, cancer cytogenetics, whole exome and genome sequencing, and RNA-seq. In addition, she has been actively involved in multiple R&D projects, and her work has been published in several prestigious journals.
