Sydney Lau serves as a Genetic Counselor at Baylor Genetics and has three years of experience in the field of healthcare and genetics.
Sydney Lau received her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology & genetics from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. When a family friend introduced her to genetic counseling, she discovered a way to marry her passion for science education and comprehensive patient care. Sidney graduated with her master’s in genetic counseling from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York and obtained clinical experience in prenatal, cancer, and pediatric genetics before joining Baylor Genetics.
Sydney is a board-certified genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Furthermore, she is a proud mentor for the Minority Genetic Professionals Network, which is a program that facilitates mentoring relationships that connect mentees with leaders in the genetic professionals network to foster professional learning and development.
In her free time, Sydney enjoys spending time with her pets, working on various tech and creative projects, and attending concerts.
