Robert Rigobello

Robert (Rob) Rigobello serves as Manager of Medical Affairs at Baylor Genetics and has over five years of experience as a laboratory genetic counselor.
Rob received his bachelor’s degree in molecular genetics at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. He became interested in the profession of genetic counseling after learning about how it blended genetics with psychosocial and ethical concepts. Before starting graduate school, he taught for a year while shadowing local genetic counselors and volunteering at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Rob graduated with his master’s in human genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. While in school, he became interested in working within the laboratory setting after taking a course on variant curation and writing his thesis on issues impacting genetic counselors working in non-traditional roles.
Rob is a board-certified genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. As a laboratory genetic counselor, he has focused on preconception and prenatal genetics as well as pharmacogenetics. Furthermore, he is passionate about mentoring students in genetic counseling programs so that they can learn and explore their professional interests.
In his free time, Rob enjoys the outdoors, playing board games, gardening, and exploring new places.
