Test Launch // Whole Exome Sequencing & Whole Genome Sequencing (Rapid, Proband, & Duo)

Dear Valued Clients,

Thank you for your continued trust in Baylor Genetics as your genetic testing partner. As we continue to upgrade and refine our test menu and services, we want you to be the first to know about changes that may affect your testing experience with us.

In May 2021, BG launched Rapid Trio Whole Exome Sequencing, which reduced its turnaround time from seven days to five days. Then, in August 2021, we launched a rapid version of Trio Whole Genome Sequencing, which has a starting turnaround time at 5 days.

Effective immediately, and to continually improve our WES product offerings, BG is proud to announce the following testing options:

  • Test Code 1729: Rapid Proband WES
  • Test Code 1603: Duo WES
  • Test Code 1723: Rapid Duo WES

In addition to the expansion of our WES products, we will also be expanding our product offerings for WGS. Additional testing options for WGS includes:

  • Test Code 1810: Proband WGS
  • Test Code 1829: Rapid Proband WGS
  • Test Code 1803: Duo WGS
  • Test Code 1823: Rapid Duo WGS

The expansion for WES and WGS to include proband and/or duo testing options will allow these tests to be more accessible for patients where it may not be possible to receive samples from both or one of the patient’s biological parents. For rapid versions, the starting turnaround time will be five days. The rapid options will allow patients and their healthcare providers to have access to time-sensitive clinical information that is crucial in acute care medical settings, such as the NICU/PICU.

Furthermore, to continually improve its product offerings, BG will release additional product upgrades to WGS. These upgrades are expected to launch later this year.
