Simplifying Ordering and Billing for Whole Exome Sequencing
We know your testing choices directly shape how you guide patients and families. To make ordering clear and easy, we’re simplifying how certain Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) combinations are requested.
Effective October 5, 2025, the following combination test codes will be retired:
Test Code |
Test Description/Test Name |
---|---|
1530 |
Proband Whole Exome Sequencing + Chromosomal Microarray Analysis (Comprehensive) |
1531 |
Proband Whole Exome Sequencing + Comprehensive mtDNA Analysis |
1532 |
Trio Whole Exome Sequencing + Comprehensive mtDNA Analysis |
1533 |
Rapid Trio Whole Exome Sequencing + Comprehensive mtDNA Analysis |
What this means for you
The same testing remains available, but with a streamlined approach: when a combination of WES with CMA or mtDNA Analysis is needed, order each test individually. This update reduces confusion and helps ensure results are delivered without delay.
