Test Discontinuation Memorandum

Effective December 15, 2012, the Cancer Genetics Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine will discontinue the following tests:

  • Test Code 9500 – Cancer Chromosomal Microarray, 180K CGH
  • Test Code 9520 – 250K SNP Array

As an alternative to these discontinued microarrays, we offer three other different microarrays to accommodate solid and hematologic tissues and various specimen types:

  • 180K CGH/SNP (test code 9505): A combined targeted and whole genome microarray designed by the Cancer Cytogenomics Microarray Consortium (CCMC). It is validated for many specimen types including paraffin-embedded tissues. This is a two color CGH oligo microarray.
  • 400K CGH/SNP test code 9510): A combined targeted and whole genome array designed by the Cancer Genetics Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine. This array covers approximately 2,300 cancer genes or cancer-related genes and 235 cancer associated-miRNAs with an average of 6 probes per exon. It is validated for many specimen types including paraffin-embedded tissues. This is a two color CGH oligo microarray.
  • CytoScan HD (test code 9515): A combined targeted and whole genome array designed and produced by Affymetrix. This array contains ~1,700,000 oligo probes and 750,000 SNP probes and can be used for both constitutional disorders and different tumors including hematological malignancies as well as solid tumors. This array is not validated for paraffin-embedded specimens at this time. This is a single color SNP oligo microarray.
