Houston, TX, September 18, 2025 – Baylor Genetics, a clinical diagnostic laboratory at the forefront of genetic testing, today announced that Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer Dr. Christine Eng has been named Woman Scientist of the Year in the 22nd annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor the achievements of women executives, entrepreneurs, and employees worldwide. The Woman Scientist of the Year category celebrates breakthrough achievements by women in scientific research and innovation since July 1, 2023.
Dr. Eng is a pediatrician, medical geneticist, and leader in genetic diagnostics, and has advanced the integration of genomics into clinical practice through her work across clinical, academic, and commercial settings. In addition to her role at Baylor Genetics, Dr. Eng serves as Vice Chair (Diagnostics) and professor in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. She has authored landmark studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association, and in 2025 spearheaded a partnership naming Baylor Genetics the official genetic testing partner of the Child Neurology Society. Recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s Women Leaders in Healthcare and elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Human Genetics in 2024, Dr. Eng also leads the genome sequencing core for the NIH’s Undiagnosed Diseases Network.
“We are immensely proud of Dr. Eng and the impact she delivers on our mission every day,” said Kengo Takishima, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Baylor Genetics. “Her vision, leadership, and relentless curiosity have been instrumental in advancing the role of genetic testing in clinical practice. She is not only a champion of scientific excellence but also a driving force behind our commitment to deliver solutions that help end the diagnostic odyssey for patients and their families.”
More than 1,500 entries from organizations and individuals in 48 nations and territories were submitted this year for consideration. Finalists were determined based on the average scores of more than 190 business professionals worldwide, serving across seven judging committees.
The awards will be presented at a gala event in New York City on November 10, where Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie placements from among the Finalists will be revealed.
